Marcel Groninger (born Groningen, 19 August 1970) is a former player and assistant coach of the Eredivisie-side FC Groningen. Many Be Quick members opposed the plans of their club joining the professional leagues, among which most notably several players from the title winning squad of 1920.
Robin van Persie has named his top five Dutch players of all-time, and there’s no room for Arjen Robben – or any player he actually played with for that matter. Several English military men went on to coach and play for Be Quick, most notably Arnold Birch and Harry Waites, which helped to raise the standard of the game in Groningen.
