When Michael Redford set out to make a film adaptation of George Orwell's well-known dystopia Nineteen Eighty-Four, Sir Richard Branson (Virgin was producing the film) wanted to have a pop act to contribute to the soundtrack. It does, however, do an excellent job of capturing much of the feeling of the Orwell novel, which is presumably what Lennox and Dave Stewart set out to do. It has an absolute great flow to it, there is not one song out of place. ReneEinz - 1984 is a bit of a rogue album: with it being a film tie-in the album is treated separately to the rest of the Eurythmics albums, the tie-in affecting its actual creation and subsequent rights issues. Loved it when it came out and have a greater appreciation for it now. Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart were commissioned to score the 1984 film adaptation of George Orwell's classic masterpiece. Reading about all the conflicts between Eurythmics and film director Michael Radford regarding their soundtrack for his rather good film-adaptation of George Orwell's novel, it is truly criminal Radford chose to condemn the idea and further exclude the duo's excellent bits from any future editions (thus he issued a director's cut version featuring only the music by Dominic Muldowney - despite the film's credits continue to state both, Eurythmics and Muldowney for the contribution). And it is quite unique. Would recommend it to everyone. The CD I received was in excellent condition, happy with purchase. Mostly, the songs fits the scences of the film and I suggest you not fear buying a cassette. Too bad it didn't end up as the official soundtrack. I was expecting the ACTUAL music that was used in the version of the film that didn’t have the original Dominic Muldowney, but no, this is not that. Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2018.
This record is,to me, unknown to many, quite ironic since I think it is one of there best works, if you like the Eurythmics you will love this soundtrack.

Also, remember the controversy between MTV and Annie Lennox because MTV wanted to censor the video (I believe Sexcrimes), yet at that time Prince was practically having sex on a video and they didn't seem to have a problem with that. I thought I was alone, nice to see other fans of this album.

Let us know what you think of the Last.fm website. It had the UK hit "Sexcrime: 1984" which never made it mainstream in the states. Great sounding even on cassette. This album was pulled from the shelves early due to legal disputes going on with the Movie Studio and Record Label. Great Album that isn't an actual soundtrack. We dont need no stinking hit singles either.
