With increasing membership, a second larger church was built in 1896. The Marist fathers left Holy Redeemer at some point in the late 1940s/early 1950s and the I.H.M sisters took over administration of the combined girls and boys high school at that time. The complex, designed by Donaldson & Meier, consumes an entire block, and is comprised by the church, rectory, elementary and high schools, a convent and an activities hall. The complex occupied an entire city block and included a convent, two school buildings, a gymnasium, and an auditorium. It was founded in 1882 and closed in 2005 after 123 years.
