The most eccentric of these is saved for last, as Sammy Cahn's lyric for "Sorta Blue" casts Albright as a depressive cooing about how her melancholia is so deep that even booze and drugs can't lift her dashed spirits.

One of the real pleasures of this album is hearing the vocal versions to so many of the songs from Mancini's hugely successful Peter Gunn instrumental album mixed in with the usual supper-club suspects. The is a 24 bit remaster available, I ordered one today. Ms Albright isn't a Hall of Fame singer, but the connection with the classic RCA Peter Gunn show/album, with the original musicians, and fleshed out with clever lyrics by American Songbook giants Sammy Cahn, Jay Livingston and Ray Evans pushes the second part of the two-fer up to almost five stars- particularly for fans of the Tv show. So if you are a Mancini collector, this one is essential. Weak sound, very little and muddy bass.
